Since 2019, I’ve known in my heart that I wanted to transition into Project Management. At first, it felt like a huge leap—coming from a finance background, I wondered if my skills would truly translate. Would I need to start over? Would my finance expertise even be relevant?
Fast forward to today, and I've realized something important: I wasn’t transitioning careers—I was expanding my skillset into a bigger playing field.
Every project I’ve managed in finance was really just another form of project management. When I structured budgets, aligned stakeholders, mitigated risks, and optimised resources—I was already applying project management principles. It turns out, finance has been the perfect foundation for the project management journey I’m on now.
Currently, I’m diving deep into the Stakeholder Performance Domain as I continue my PMP exam journey, and the more I learn, the more I see how seamlessly everything connects.
The PMBOK 7th Edition has been a game-changer, and it’s reinforcing the principles I’ve always believed in:
From rigid processes to adaptable principles—because every project is unique.
From deliverables to outcomes—success is about impact, not just ticking boxes.
From fixed methods to flexibility—the best approach is the one that drives real value.
Delayed? Maybe. But never denied.
This journey may have taken time, but it was always meant to be mine. Now, with both finance and project management skills in my toolkit, I bring a unique perspective to every project I lead—one that bridges strategy, execution, and financial intelligence.
