Pavan, I was, and still, in charge of a program where we developed a seniors’ community designed to feel like home, and it had a profound social impact because it provided not just housing, but a sense of belonging, safety, and dignity.

What made the projects meaningful was our deep focus on the human experience, as we engaged directly with seniors, caregivers, and families during the planning process to truly understand their needs. We prioritized accessibility, social connection, and comfort in every design choice, from communal spaces that encouraged interaction to features that supported aging in place.

The success of the project came from a combination of thoughtful design, community involvement, and a shared commitment from all stakeholders to create something that went beyond a standard development but about creating a place that enhanced quality of life.

Yes, and it has been one of the most significant experiences of my career.

I had the opportunity to participate in a project that not only met the technical objectives, but also generated a real social impact: it contributed to the digital inclusion of vulnerable communities, providing them with access to technological tools, training and opportunities for personal and professional development.

Seeing how people gained autonomy, confidence and new possibilities from our work was profoundly transformative. It reminded me that project management is not just about delivering products, but about generating real value for people.

Because when a project improves lives, it stops being just a job... and becomes a purpose.

Social Impact may be positive or negative for different stakeholder groups, two examples:

I benefit from being a mentor as I see mentees improving their social lives.
Any cost-down project that reduces jobs has a negative social impact on employees fired and their families.
