Stelian ROMAN Project Manager| MicroSafety Carlingford, New South Wales, Australia
I am an experienced Senior Project Manager, Scrum Master, and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. I started my career in Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing, building digital tools and improving processes. I later moved to Software Development, ending my journey as a CTO before moving to full-time Project Management. I delivered over 50 Business and IT projects in various areas, from Manufacturing to Business Transformation, Custom Applications Development, Cloud Migrations, Geographical Information Systems, and Business Intelligence. I am (still) a passionate Agile practitioner after almost 30 years of using Agile practices.
I was fortunate to have a very interesting career, with challenging roles and exposure to most of the technologies and methodologies used in IT, from COBOL to cloud, mobile applications, and microservices. I wrote my first c program in 1986 and published my first book in Computer Graphics in 1990. I take every project as a personal challenge and a great opportunity to learn. I also enjoy mentoring and giving back to the project management community.
I am an active volunteer for the Project Management Institute and Scrum.org and a contributor to professional forums on Agile and Hybrid delivery, Risk Management, Process Improvement, Lean Six Sigma, and Organizational Change Management.
I published 16 books on various topics from computer programming to project delivery and process improvement.

Wow! What an incredible journey! Your blend of deep technical roots, leadership as a CTO, and decades of experience in Agile and Lean Six Sigma is truly inspiring. I love how you see every project as a personal challenge and opportunity to learn, that mindset clearly fuels the amazing impact you’ve had. Would love to hear which of your 16 books was the most fun (or toughest!) to write!

Stelian:
First, thank you for mentoring and giving back to the Project Management community. Your resume is impressive, as you’ve transitioned from one area to another. I am currently experiencing a similar transition from education to geotechnical engineering. It can be very challenging but rewarding, provided one has the right mindset, as you have stated. “Seeing every new adventure as an opportunity to learn.” Thank you for sharing your journey.
