It is quite possible to do a crash course in a period of 12 weeks, but one should ask how much will they retain what they have learnt and how would it serve them in future.

Something that I wish every Business graduate would learn is what the links are between business and projects. I would suggest your emphasize the business case. Allow them to develop a schedule and quality criteria for a project, using the inputs that they received from business. The majority of business cases that I have seen is of extremely low quality and cannot really guide the project manager. Also show them what happens if business is not involved in deliverable acceptance.

I am sure that there might be many other areas they might benefit from, but I would love to work in a firm where the Operational staff understand what their role is with projects and when they should step back from projects and allow the project manager to do his job.

I do like Danie's suggestion, but instead of the schedule (which would involve a lot of time lost in training them on the specific IT tools that are used ) I would focus more on gathering the project requirements and communicating with all the different stakeholders. That would also give them an insight into what would be any conflicting demands on the schedule. Then involving them in the quality criteria and acceptance testing design will give them a really good insight into that side of the PM process.
