After years of managing projects and people, I’ve been reflecting...

If you could give just one piece of valuable advice to your younger PM self, what would it be?

Focus on people first over process and tools. Whether that is developing your team, engaging with stakeholders or supporting your sponsor, the effort will provide a very good return.

Clarity beats certainty so make sure to communicate early, often, and honestly, even when you don’t have all the answers.

Excellent reflection.
If I could give just one piece of advice to my younger self as a project manager, it would be this: invest as much in people as you do in plans.

Learning processes, tools, and frameworks is essential — but nothing compares to the impact of a motivated, heard, and engaged team.
Many of the toughest challenges I’ve faced weren’t technical, but human: misalignment, broken communication, weakened trust.
And it was precisely in those moments that I learned how leading with empathy, active listening, and a clear sense of purpose makes all the difference.

Projects are made of people.
And the sooner we understand that, the more real impact we can create.

Dear Luis Branco , thank you for this deeply thoughtful reflection.

Your words truly resonate. Projects are made of people, not just plans and processes.

I couldn’t agree more: empathy, trust, and purpose are what turn good teams into great ones.

Grateful for your wisdom, Luis!

Hi Francisco, love that rule!

It strikes the perfect balance between resilience and optimism, and yes, celebrating wins big or small keeps the momentum alive.

Thanks for the reminder to enjoy the journey, too!

Trust the process, but stay adaptable. Plans will shift, people will surprise you, and not everything is in your control. Focus on communication, listen more than you speak, and never stop learning. Projects succeed when people feel heard and supported.
