Hi everyone, I recently completed my PMP certification and I'm now looking to upskill further and pursue the next level of certification. I’m currently working as a manager in an IT company, leading Data Engineering and Analytics teams, primarily in the Finance and Supply Chain domains. Given my background, what certifications would you recommend to advance my project/program management skills and align with my career growth?

PgMP or SAFe SPC – depending on whether your trajectory is more strategic or agile-driven.

CAP or MIT Applied Business Analytics – to bridge technical analytics with business leadership.

TOGAF or CDTO – if you're involved in systems design, architecture, or enterprise-level planning.

Supplement with executive short courses from Wharton, Berkeley, or MIT to round out your strategic acumen.

Yugandar -

What are your career goals - what types of roles or responsibilities do you aspire to?

What are the credentials which those roles normally hold or are referenced in job posts for them?

If you can answer these questions you will be able to narrow the field.

Hi Yugandar,

Huge congratulations on earning your PMP—what an incredible milestone!
You might consider exploring PMI-ACP if you’re working in agile environments, or Program Management Professional (PgMP)

Yugandar, congrats on completing your PMP. When it comes to upskilling, the most important thing is to make sure it aligns with your long-term career goals and the direction you want to take.

Given your role leading Data Engineering and Analytics teams in the Finance and Supply Chain domains, one area you might consider is Business Analysis. A certification like PMI-PBA or CBAP could really help you bridge the gap between technical execution and business strategy, especially in data-driven projects. It’s a solid way to expand your impact as a project or program manager and position yourself for more strategic leadership roles. Good Luck!
