This is an important question.
The project closure report plays a key role—not only in documenting project outcomes, but also in capturing lessons learned and contributing to organizational learning and maturity in project management.

If a standard company template isn’t available, it’s recommended to include essential elements such as:
- Executive Summary: Project goals, main deliverables, and results achieved.
- Deliverables and Outcomes: What was delivered versus what was planned.
- Performance Analysis: A comparison of scope, schedule, and cost baselines with actuals.
- Lessons Learned: Highlights of successes, challenges, and recommendations for future projects.
- Stakeholder Feedback: Input from key stakeholders or clients.
- Next Steps/Recommendations: Any follow-up actions, maintenance needs, or suggestions for future initiatives.
- Formal Sign-Offs: Documentation of approvals and acceptance.

It’s also helpful to check with the PMO or governance office to see if there’s an existing format or guideline to ensure consistency across projects.

There are several closure report templates available on ProjectManagement.com that can be adapted to different project types and organizational needs.

Formalizing the closure process not only ensures transparency, but also adds value to future projects by building on collective experience.

There is no single standard for any project management document. You can check in the Templates section of this community for examples, but you will need to tailor them to fit the needs of your stakeholders and your company's PM standards or governance requirements.

Usually such documents will cover things such as:
- What was achieved vs what was expected from an outcomes, cost & schedule perspective
- Anything outstanding (scope or issue-wise) which will be addressed after the project has been closed out
- Lessons identified to be applied to future projects

At a minimum, I'd suggest checking with your sponsor and client to see what their expectations are for what this document should contain.

Fully agree with Kiron Bondale. Mainly in his last paragraph. Adding to that, ask to PMI´s Infinity creating the right prompt but mainly based in stakeholders needs and expectations as Kiron wrote above.
