Is PMI changing their Professional Development Units (PDU) criteria aligned to their new direction with the Talent Triangle?
Anonymous
PMI has developed what they call the "Talent Triangle" and I have seen some discussions about PMI changing the criteria to maintain PMP certification. Does anyone have any more information on this? Saving Changes...
You have probably seen by now those two on-line presentations explaining reasoning behind new CCRs.
Anyway, just to tell you. No need to worry. It is just going to make it easier to gain PDUs. Maybe for an extra buck or two.
Though the triangle manifest emphasizes Leadership vs. Technical, the result is that CCR process also reduces the number of PDUs you can get for actual work experience.
So, summary: you will need to know less about the work you do, and you will not need to have as much work experience in the profession, but you will be able to collect more of leadership catchphrases.
Funny bit is that PMI state that (some unstated) "industry" says that leadership needs some "je ne sais quoi" (does it sound poche enough), which mere mortal coaching cannot provide (the way it does for despised technical skills). But then, they require (and probably offer) coaching in "uncoachable". Saving Changes...
