Hello,
I am currently preparing for the PMI exam, and while doing an Udemy exam prep quiz, I came across a question where I'm doubting if the provided answer is correct (according to the Udemy teacher, it is.)
May I have your input on this question?
The scenario was:
“You are the project manager for the Floor Installation Project. Today, you will meet with your project team to ensure the project is completed with no deviations from the project requirements.”
1) Quality planning (correct per Udemy)
2) Quality management
3) Quality control
4) Quality assurance
The quiz marks Quality Planning as the correct answer, explaining that this step involves setting quality standards and criteria before work begins. However, this is where the confusion lies, the scenario clearly states "today" and focuses on ensuring the project is completed with no deviations, which seems to place the activity during execution, not planning.
Based on my understanding of the PMBOK Guide:
Quality Planning refers to defining quality requirements and standards before work starts.
The activity described ensuring work is performed without deviation from requirements, fits the definition of Control Quality, which involves measuring, inspecting, and verifying deliverables to ensure they meet agreed standards.
The teacher told me in addition: "The implication in this question is that the project will be completed with no deviations. Quality planning should be completed prior to the work beginning and should thereafter be revisited as needed."
Could you confirm whether this might be an oversight or provide additional context if there's another interpretation I may have missed?
Thanks very much for your time and support
