Digital transformation and interoperability are the most significant opportunities for growth. Healthcare systems have fragmented technologies that create care gaps. Project managers who can integrate systems and streamline workflows have a direct impact on patient outcomes and efficiency by focusing on measurable results, such as reduced readmissions and improved care coordination.

Question: How do you demonstrate PM value to healthcare executives who prioritize clinical outcomes over process improvements?

By integrating digital tools across departments and aligning workflows with clinical goals, we closed care gaps, reduced avoidable readmissions, and improved patient safety—measurable outcomes that support both financial sustainability and excellence in care delivery.

The PM's ability to tie the value of process improvement to patient outcomes is imperative. An example result would be reducing admin time for clinicians and shifting that to more patient time. Improved process could lead to better patient satisfaction. The PM's ability to communicate that effectively, clearly and consistently is key.

Great topic, Karla! From my perspective, one of the biggest challenges in healthcare projects is balancing compliance and regulatory requirements with the need for speed and adaptability. Too often, projects slow down under the weight of approvals and documentation. The opportunity lies in equipping project professionals with the tools and authority to streamline governance while still maintaining patient safety and compliance. When PMs can bridge that gap, they not only deliver faster but also create trust across clinical and administrative teams.
