Starting off as a project manager or associate project manager can be a difficult task. First, is the lack of project experience and second you are in competition with foreign PMs who work for low wages and have resumes that have lots of project and technical experience.
Try applying for jobs at a company that you might have services as a recruiter through your network. Being an employee is easier to move into the a PM career. I would not recommend going the consultant route due to competition and travel.
It's good to get your CAPM and your CSM.
You can try to network with PMs you know to see if you can get on their projects as a scheduler or project admin to start to build your career.
