I am a PM/Estimator for a structual steel fabrication and erection company. We have about 30 people + Union for on site.
In the office, there are only 3 designers, 2 PM's, the owner, and one doing accounting/purchasing/office paperwork.
We are getting big enough that an ERP system is something the company should be looking at to help with scheduling, purchasing, document management, payroll etc.
I have used a system called E2 in the past for a manufacturing company, however I'm unsure if that would fulfill the requirements of steel construction. That being said, I would not have the cash to purchase a full blown ERP with all the bells and whistles. I am looking for something that is cost effective and fills the needs of the company.
Does anyone have any suggestions of which ones they have used currently or in the past and the pros/cons.
I've used different systems and been through transitions as well - from small to enterprise solutions.
