For me, one of the most overlooked aspects of project management is the way we often reduce stakeholder management to a set of tools and templates... spreadsheets, stakeholder registers, RACI matrix, and so on. While these can support the process, they’re not the essence of stakeholder engagement. At its core, stakeholder management is about people. It requires emotional intelligence, active listening, trust-building, and the ability to navigate complex relationships and competing interests. Real influence doesn’t come from a register; it comes from human connection.
