Hi Experts ,
I have started preparing for the PMP Exam from Sept 2025 and am planning to give the exam in 2026. The official release date for the PMBOK 8th Edition is set for January 13, 2026.

(1) Will the PMP Exam Pattern change immediately after the release of  PMBOK 8th Edition ?

(2) When is PMI planning to change the PMP 2026 Exam pattern ?

Thanks & Regards
Saswata Mandal

You better contact PMI directly and get a formal answer. However, I think the changes will not come immediately.

Saswata -

1. No
2. Unknown. Until PMI conducts a Role Delineation Study which results in a new Exam Content Outline for the PMP exam, there would be no major changes. Remember that the PMBOK Guide is just one of many references used for the exam questions. PMI regularly updates, adds and deletes questions from its exam "pool" but major changes will be communicated many months in advance.

Hi Saswata,
PMBOK 7th edition can serve as a basis to your overall PM education, you have 3 months to develop the proper PM mindest which is the most important key to your PM certification sucess. Afterall, no rush. By January your PM knowledge will be substantial and you may use the new edition to top up. Bets of Luck.
