Today I received an email announcing the addition of a new PMI-CPMAI course. The email explains in detail that all CPMAI V7 candidates will be able to upgrade their certification to the new version free of charge.
I understand how this applies to candidates who have already passed and received the CPMAI V7 certificate, but I have a few questions regarding the status of candidates who previously purchased the V7 course and are currently in the process of studying and preparing for the exam (I am specifically around 80% progress).

    •    I noticed that the new preparation course has changed, presumably shortened from 30 hours to 21 hours. Has the exam also changed, or does it remain the same as before?
    •    Does the new (shortened) course provide better preparation conditions for candidates taking the exam?
    •    After completing the course and passing the V7 exam, will the option to take the extended CPMAI+E course still be available?
    •    The email mentions the following: “To stay active: earn 30 PDUs every three years and pay a renewal fee.” Could you clarify which renewal fee this refers to?

Djordje, I can answer some of your questions:

1) When you log into your PMI Account, you will see a note in blue about the new PMI-CPMAI Certificate and when you click "Learn More", it will take you to a page with FAQ. For your concern, here is what they wrote:

"If you purchased CPMAI v7, you have 90 days from your purchase date to complete the current CPMAI course and exam. The final day to take the v7 exam is December 30, 2025. After you pass the v7 exam, you will have 12 months to upgrade to PMI-CPMAI at no cost while keeping your CPMAI v7 credential."

2) Will CPMAI v7 learning Products, including CPAMI+ and +E remain available?

"Yes. The CPMAI Exam Prep course will continue to be available in your myPMI dashboard. All CPMAI v7 courses, including the CPMAI+ and CPMAI+E add-ons, will not expire and will remain accessible."

3) The renewal fees will be $60 USD just like all other PMI certificate that you renew every three years.

Hope this helps.

Thank you, Rami, as always, a true community champion.

I couldn’t find the Learn button, but I did come across the CPMAI Transition FAQ page through a Google search. Here’s the direct link:

I’m still interested to know if someone from PMI can confirm whether, for those of us currently learning from the V7 course, the exam remains the same as before.

You're welcome. I think it's safe to assume that the exam will remain the same till the end of this year but in all cases, PMI does continuously add new questions to their exams.
