During Planning how to meet project objectives in Agile

Hi everyone, I’m trying to clarify a point about Agile project planning. When planning, is it better for the team to:

Ensure each user story has a clear Definition of Done (DoD) to validate completion continuously, or

Plan a final quality review/checkpoint at the end of delivery to verify that objectives are met?

Which approach aligns better with Agile principles, and why?"

In Agile, it’s always better to build quality in as you go rather than wait till the end.

That’s why having a clear Definition of Done (DoD) for every user story is key. It helps the team check progress continuously and ensures you’re always delivering something usable.

A final review can still be useful, but more like a light double-check. If you rely only on that, you risk finding issues too late.

So, DoD first, checkpoint second. That’s what keeps you closer to Agile values.
