Having effective communication with others has helped me to build my network. I’ve found that getting outside of my comfort zone and being open minded has also been an effective method when building connections. I would recommend that others start conversations with others who have a variety of different backgrounds to gain knowledge on different perspectives.
Just be curious and open minded. You have an opportunity to connect with so many wonderful people from around the world and from different industries, and have few days only. So go for it!

networking is hard for an introvert. Step outside your comfort zone and give people a chance to surprise you!
I agree. I have found that showing up is a huge first step. From there, you may have interesting interactions or not, but you will not have any if you do not seek out opportunities and show up

The most effective strategy I have had to network is by asking an ice breaker question such as when did you first get into project management. Don’t be shy is my best recommendation as project management as our profession is based on stakeholder engagement and if your an introvert this will be a hard career for you.
As an introvert, a list of ice breakers is super helpful for keeping the conversation going.

What’s been most effective in building my network is focusing on genuine connections rather than just collecting contacts

Getting out of your shell and actually talking to folks is the most effective method I feel. You never know what you have in common with others.
I relate to this a lot. I can talk but it is definitely something I’ve had to work hard to develop over the years.

showing up consistently at events, following up quickly, and adding value instead of just asking for help. I focus on building real relationships, not just collecting contacts.

Be curious about those you interact with, and don’t be afraid to engage in a conversation with someone new! :)
I love the answer! Thanks for chatting with me at the awards reception and the YP event. It’s always good meet new people and learn about the struggles and wins of other PMs!

What has helped me the most in building my network is being intentional about making real connections rather than just adding people for the sake of it. I’ve learned that people respond well when you’re genuinely curious and open people not transactional. I recommend being curious and genuinely interested in others asking valuable questions.

Be curious and for all of the extroverted PMs out there like myself, bring a list of ice breaker questions to help keep the conversation going.
What do you like to do on the weekends?
What made you interested to attend this event?
What drew you to this industry?
How long have you been in this industry?
