Hello Jayesh,
I might not have as much experience as you, but after 10 years in industrial and infrastructure projects, I made a change to IT Projects because of several change management consultancies. And I think you won't have any issues if your communication and PM skills are developed. There will be technical experts to help you on the technical side, but the PM essence for me is the same :)
Regards,

I recently took on Scheduling for a biotech project and find that I had to stop trying to make connections between IT and biotech. PM is PM. However, the biggest difference for me; external to the language, is the interwoven dependency on construction and equipment contractor work done before the actual manufacturing team is brought on.
Their (construction) expertise is in no way in depth enough to ensure the user requirements for equipment and installation to later qualify for Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) and subsequently site qualification.
To that end, I would have to say planning lacks the attention necessary to build quality into the entire process. That's where a certified and experienced project manager can guide the stakeholders from the start.
I'm not on the project in that capacity. However, I have voiced my concerns and provided an approach. We'll see how things turn out. Saving Changes...
