PMP Exam Eligibility – High School Diploma Documentation

I hope this message finds you well.

I am planning to apply for the Project Management Institute (PMI)® Project Management Professional (PMP) examination under the option that requires:

A high school or secondary school diploma (or global equivalent)

60 months of project-leading experience within the past eight years

35 hours of project management education/training (or a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) credential)

However, I graduated from high school decades ago and no longer possess the physical diploma.

Could you please advise whether I am still eligible to apply if I cannot present the original diploma? Specifically:

What constitutes acceptable proof of the “high school or secondary school diploma” requirement in such cases?

Is it acceptable to submit a signed statement from the school, a transcript, or a certification of graduation issued by the institution instead of the original diploma?

If selected for audit, what supporting document(s) will PMI accept to satisfy this educational requirement?

Are there any alternative pathways available if a diploma or its equivalent cannot be produced?

Thank you in advance for your assistance. I appreciate your guidance on ensuring my application will meet PMI’s eligibility and audit requirements.

Kind regards,

I'd recommend contacting PMI Customer Care for a query such as this one as while members of this community might have an experienced opinion, PMI does change their requirements regularly and it is better to get the information from one of their staff.

Kurahito, I highly recommend you follow Kiron's suggestions. It's better if you get answers for such issues from the source itself. Experienced opinions when it comes to matters like this might not always be accurate!
Support only provided me with information written on a static page.

It's still unresolved, but thank you.

Thank you.

However, I'm unsure of what to do if I don't have the paper copy, so I'm concerned that if I fail an audit after payment, it will be confiscated.

Due to Japan's declining birthrate, many schools are going bankrupt.

In other words, there are no schools to inquire about diplomas.

In such cases, unfortunately you would have to look for some sort of independently endorsed proxy document for a high school diploma. Having been involved with the audit process in the past, I'd say it is rare that there would be any challenge issued to your having completed high school as the focus usually tends to be on experience verification and on confirming higher credential (e.g. Bachelors degrees).
