Hi all, Do we have like study buddy sessions or group study online sessions?

Anyone studying CAPM and PMP who have study buddies or need study buddies? The materials are so long to read and there's just so many terms and it's easier to have someone to interact with to retain the information and connect synapses.

Hello Patricia - and thanks for your post. Although we have no formal study groups, I suggest reaching out to your local chapter's website to connect and network with others prepping for the exam(s). I hope this helps and good luck to you!

Hi Patricia, you’re absolutely right, and a lot of candidates feel this way.

The PMP and CAPM materials can feel overwhelming when studied in isolation. Having someone to interact with often helps with motivation and retention, especially when you’re trying to connect concepts rather than just memorize terms.

A few practical options you can consider:
  1. Informal study buddies
  2. Many candidates find study partners through PMI chapter events, LinkedIn groups, or forums like this one. Even a small group that meets once a week to discuss a few scenarios or quiz questions can be very effective.
  3. Be mindful of how group study is used
  4. Group study works best for:
  5. Discussing tricky scenario questions
  6. Explaining concepts to each other (teaching reinforces learning)
  7. Staying accountable
It’s less effective if it turns into passive reading or unfocused discussion.
  1. Scenario-based discussion is key
  2. The exam is not about recalling definitions. it’s about choosing the best action when several answers seem reasonable. Discussing scenarios with others helps you see how PMI prioritizes stakeholder engagement, risk, and servant leadership.
  3. A hybrid approach often works best
  4. Many candidates use:
  5. Self-paced study for content
  6. Interactive discussion (study buddies or forums) for decision-making practice
This keeps things flexible while still giving you interaction.
This challenge, needing interaction to really “connect the dots” is actually why PM Mindset Builder was built. Instead of long reading sessions, it focuses on short, scenario-based exercises that simulate the kinds of discussions study groups usually have, but in a self-paced format. A number of learners use it alongside their study groups or when schedules don’t line up.
If you’re curious, you can search it online: PM Mindset Builder

You’re thinking about this the right way. Whether through a study buddy, a small group, or structured scenario practice, interaction is one of the fastest ways to internalize PMI thinking.
