In many organizations, the data exists, reports are submitted, and indicators are available.

However, key decisions are postponed or diluted.

When an important decision is not made in your organization,

is it because there is a lack of information... or a lack of a clear decision-making system?

Great question. In most mature organizations, the problem is rarely a lack of information.

What’s missing is usually a clear decision architecture: who decides what, at which level, using which criteria, and with what accountability.

When decision rights, thresholds, and escalation paths are ambiguous, more data does not create clarity.
It creates delay, dilution, and risk avoidance.

Strong organizations design decision systems deliberately.
Information informs decisions, but systems make decisions possible.
Without them, indecision slowly erodes trust, accountability, and strategic momentum.

In my experience, it’s rarely a lack of information.
What’s usually missing is a clear decision-making system: who decides, based on what criteria, and with what accountability. When that’s unclear, more data just delays decisions instead of enabling them.
