A few standard interview questions I like to use for PMs:
I present a scenario of a project, and then ask, "What would make that project fail?" followed by "What would you do to prevent that from happening?"
I present another project scenario that goes something like, "Imagine you’re working on a high profile project. It impacts multiple teams and customers, has significant impact for the organization's goals, costs a relatively significant amount of money, and is a xxx month project." Then I pose these two questions:
1. You’re 2 months away from launching and you get a phone call from the vendor you’re working with, and the vendor informs you that they won’t have the product ready on time. What do you do?
2. You’re 2 weeks away from launching and a senior staff person comes to you and says they don’t think your testing has been thorough enough, they’ve tried testing some features and have seen issues, and they have heard from their staff about testing issues. They don’t think the product is ready to launch in 2 weeks and should be delayed. How do you respond?
