1) In such case following known standards (organizational or industry) is the best way. They save time and guide for quality deliverable.
2) Check if you can have historic data to follow, this will again save your time to reinvent the wheel (to develop new process).
3) Have experienced people assigned on task to minimize errors. As rework can delay your delivery.
4) Apply quality while doing work and NOT check for quality after work.
5) Make each person working in project responsible for the quality of their respective task/job/activity. Saving Changes...

1) As a proactive task make sure that the team knows you have a very short time to delivery the work and rework is mortal, make sure that everybody understand this challenge, not only process is important but also a team attitude
2) Implement peer review process where a experienced person review the work
3) Measure it and share with the team these individual metrics, they need to know how they are performing Saving Changes...
Even if you have 1 to 1.5 day task, you may want to review it and test it. So I would suggest to follow similar process and allocate time in ratio to these items.
If some one can do review of more than one such item, it would be a good utilization of resources as well as time. It is really hard to assign some one for review a small task.
You may assign such small items to one person, who is good in integration and impact analysis. Saving Changes...

I am working in a telecommunications company recently. Commonly, when an activity has completed from the implementation side. The next step is OTDR (optical time domain reflectometer) & also OPM (optical power meter) testing. If the results are not as standard, then the project can't be handover to the Operation division. So our orientation not only about times, it relates with triangle constraints on project management concepts. Saving Changes...
