Project Manager Tasks (Responsibilities) are described in PMI's ECO 2015 for each performance domain, which are covering following topics
Hello! I think the main responsabilities are the same that any PM has but in the case of IT projects I could count a couple responsabilities that are specific to this type of project:
1. Knowledge about who is the expert that could resolve the issue that you identify or that stakeholders have reported, remember you are the Project management expert, not the printer, wireless, ethernet, developing, etc. expert. But you have the capacity to solve the problem if you know who to call and whats is about the problem.
2. Reading everything about the technical or non-technical specifications of the project, you always have to know about what is the aim of the project all the time to prevent scope creep and some crazy stakeholders's ideas.
3. Negotiating is not an easy task but a indispensable one.
4. Have to know how to say NO. You know about your resources, team members and activities, say no if you know that is a bad choice to say yes.
5.Never Forget about the lessons learned and the improving as soon as you detect an opportunity or a risk. Be careful with risk, there are always some of this that you hadn't considered at first. (in my case... the risk to have an old bathroom just above the Datacenter's roof... forget about that risk was really a nightmare).
I hope those points could be useful for you :) , Good luck! Saving Changes...
