I am tasked with creating a standardized template for our PM department to use. A Statement of Work and Scope of Work documents. My question is does anyone suggest a hybrid of both? And what would that look like? After researching this thoroughly I really don't see why we need both - looking for some advice.

Hi Heather!

About your Question, in my own experience, the best practice for your case is to have them separately because the aim of the documents are a bit different.

A project proposal or business case documents the financial or operational purpose of a project. A statement of work summarizes this purpose and describes the project's desired results.

A scope statement describes the scope of work in terms of a product, service or other result of a project. The scope statement also specifies acceptance criteria that determine if a project result is acceptable.

An hybrid document is only recomendable for those who have used the documents separately. Try to make one for each objetive first :)

I hope this would help you
