Affordable PM for small software dev company?

I'm looking for some input on what products to look at for affordable PM software for a software development organization. We looked a bit at PlanView but found it too expensive and not focused on the SD process. Need task and resource scheduling and tracking for multiple concurrent projects.

If your projects are really small you can accomplish a lot with spreadsheets (Excel or equivelant). If you need a little more, try MS project. Once you learn where the gaps are and how to deal with them, it can be a useful product. Learning curve is not too bad and price is not too bad.
