Most discussions about Digital Twins focus on assets, products, systems, or operations.

But what if the most valuable Digital Twin was not a machine, a process, or even an AI agent?

What if it was a representation of how you think, interpret reality, make decisions, learn, and evolve?

As AI becomes increasingly capable of generating information, perhaps the real competitive advantage will not come from access to intelligence, but from understanding how judgment is formed.

Do you think it is possible to build a Digital Twin of human thinking?

And if so, what would it need to represent?

For many years, I think human beings have been trying to develop critical and analytical thinking through the study of science. In that sense, I would consider this part of building a “Digital Twin of human thinking.” We constantly test and challenge theories, and in psychology, we also challenge the status quo. So if a Digital Twin of human thinking is possible, it would need to reflect how people question, interpret, learn, and make judgments.

I don't think a Digital Twin of human thinking would be a model of knowledge. It would be a model of judgment.

Knowledge can be acquired, stored, and retrieved. Judgment emerges from the interaction of mental models, experience, values, assumptions, and tradeoff preferences.

Two people can be presented with the same facts and arrive at different conclusions because they interpret the situation through different decision architectures.

For that reason, I think the most useful Digital Twin would not attempt to replicate everything a person knows. It would attempt to represent how that person interprets signals, evaluates tradeoffs, updates beliefs, and makes decisions under uncertainty.

If we ever succeed in building that, we may discover that the most valuable asset to replicate is not intelligence itself, but judgment.
