How ethical and professional it is to force team members to stretch to run project that should not have negative effect on business ?

because PMP teaches us to be ethical in behavior and professional in approach

so can we as PMP people manage this balance ?

If I understand correctly, you mean, asking resources to work in long hours and coming over weekends?

If you plan correctly and include all your risks and assumptions during planning this should not happen. However, if there are situations, that are not too frequent, I do not hesitate to work long hours for a week so to save project or make delivery!

If that is happening, it is not only unethical but it is bad project management on PM's part.

We need more information from you Sarah and who is forcing the team members to 'stretch'? What is being stretched? Is it time?

This question is raising red flags because of the wording 'force.' I am not sure that forcing anyone in the PM world is a good PM approach at all. Influencing is good; forcing is questionable.
