Usage of SMAC (Social, Mobile, Analytic and Cloud) techniques are the key differentiating factors in most of the present projects. Does it catalyze innovation? What are the methods to effectively use these techniques in project management? How it can be used to improve project communication?
Krishna, you have touched upon and interesting topic here. SMAC techniques have open floodgates of opportunities for further innovations as now we can see on a wider canvas and be more creative by thinking out of the box. The barriers to communication are fast being eradicated and cloud computing would give access to information anywhere virtually. Though there is a need to manage many project issues face-to-face but virtual environments have made other possibilities visible and doable. Saving Changes...
Thank you for the response. I am working in IT industry where we are using this latest communication technology tools very frequently. We are having company specific internal social networks to collaborate and share our thoughts. This help resources to reuse the innovations or assets created in other project very quickly.
We are very effectively using WhatsApp group for short communication with in the team and all the team members are updated quickly. Now the project management is going mobile and status reports are generated and reported through mobile devices through various project management apps.
Please advise whether other industries also use the same technology devices and methods. Please share if there is any best practices. Saving Changes...
Krishna, I am pleased to learn how effectively you are using these techniques in IT projects. I have tried them on several developmental projects with equally effective results. We tried them on construction of an airport and even on a social project and we found that effectiveness increases enormously. I do not mean that we exactly used SMAC but we used the mobile and cloud apps to effectively communicate for faster results. Saving Changes...

I totally agree with you, Krishna and Suhail.
With these new technologies, new innovative project management tools are being developed which makes projects more transparent , easier to manage with capabilities for self-reporting anytime and anywhere. Project stakeholders find these new collaborative cloud-based tools a natural fit as they are intuitive, conversational, easy to access, use, and understand.
The key here is to identify the smart tool which can harness and organize the transactions or input into discrete project data so that they can be searchable, reportable, and actionable.
What SMAC PM tools are you using right now? Saving Changes...
