Yes, but it is what we do with that fiction and how much effort was spent in developing that fiction which matters. As the saying goes, all plans are wrong but some are useful. If that schedule was developed with full stakeholder participation, helped to (re)set senior stakeholder expectations, helped to unearth risks and better approaches, generated buy-in from the team, and provided a basis for control, it is good. On the other hand, if the team, PM or senior leaders blindly follow it in spite of evidence to the contrary, it has outlived its usefulness. Saving Changes...
