What skill will matter most for project managers in the next 5 years—technical knowledge, leadership, or adaptability?

With rapid changes in technology and business environments, the expectations from project managers are evolving quickly.

It raises an interesting question about future readiness.

What skill will matter most for project managers in the next 5 years—technical knowledge, leadership, or adaptability?

If I had to choose from those three, I'd say adaptability. Not because we're entering some unprecedented era of uncertainty, but because adaptability is what allows project managers to continually develop the technical knowledge and leadership skills their environment demands. Project management has always required adapting to changing business priorities, technologies, and stakeholder expectations. The context changes; the need to adapt doesn't.
