I have been trying to implement some sort of collaborative, task management application in my organization but the problem is, for the size of most of our project, the apps that are on the market now are overkill. The interfaces can be confusing and most people find task reporting a burden because using the app is a burden.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on an app that I can use with my whole team whose primary function is task management. I know that MS Team Manager had some flaws, but I am looking for something similar. Easy to use and in a familiar interface. Saving Changes...

I know that info coming from a vendor is not always liked, but I stumbled on your post and just thought that I would mention that we (MKS) offer an issue-tracking product. Basically, if you're looking to track issues and assign tasks to team members, Integrity Manager offers automatic email notifications, querying capabilities, Web browser, reporting etc. Integrity Manager also integrates with MS Project to streamline project management. It might be "overkill" for what you are looking for, but if you'd like to check it out, visit our website at www.mks.com.
If I've intruded by posting this, I apologize. Saving Changes...
I've been using a package named eProjectControl. This package will link live into MicrosoftProject .Because is using NT authentification, your users will automatically see (in a web browser)only the tasks assigned to them. All what they need to do is update their work status(10%,50%,etc.).In this way you need just one person running Microsoft Project and not everybody involved in the project. It also supports document and content management so you can post your Word Meeting Minutes or Excel Open Issues to the site.
