Interested in hearing from local PMs in Florida on the opportinities there. Which industries there are hiring PMs? It is getting to expensive to live in NY and I am looking for sunny weather.

This is why Florida companies do not like to hire Northerner's. If you're moving to Florida to escape NY taxes and crummy weather your doing it for all the wrong reasons. Been there, done that!

That's an interesting perspective considering many relocations are due to people seeking new environments or environments that more closely match their personalities. If your happy with your surroundings then you are on the road to being a more productive employee. I agree there should be more to a job search than sunshine but they aren't totally bad reasons either (and I bet they aren't the posters only reasons).

If everyone had the Northerner, Southener, Eastern, or Westcoast biases then we'd be a pretty boring and limited little country.

As for the primary posters question: From what I can tell the FL market is at bit better off than some of the others states especially in the banking/finacial sectors. I say go for it as long as you are skilled and represent your self professionally then go for it -introduce a little of NY to FL.

I'm a PMP, and the only places to go in FL is Jacksonville or Miami. West coast SUCKS - I'm PMP and have been out of work since October 2000. You have to BEG for an interview. If you.ve got a job, stay with it...
