Just for the sake of argument, let's call it the cost of planning rather than PM. It makes the issue a bit more "stark". I will discuss cost of planning if you will allow onto the agenda the cost of not planning, the cost of planning less, and the payoff from planning. Sometimes my clients say that I am expensive. I point out the benefits and the expense of the alternative. I would like to see anyone try to mount an argument for less or zero planning. It would be laughable.
