Some organization have their own SPO strategic planning section who is responsible for the planning and excution of its strategy. And in other hand you have PMO who is dealing directly with projects and programs. The question now. How can we align SPO and PMO information to achieve the maximum results since you now that both have their own direction and have their own agenda and non of them wants to step over another ones foot. SPO is a kind of PMO, just at a much higher level. SPO and PMO can co-exist but essentially they are the name for same concept with a little different objectives. There are over 40+ different names a PMO can be addressed as. SPO or EPO (Enterprise Project Office) or Portfolio Management Office are very high level PMOs mostly responsible to ensure alignment with strategic or investment objectives. They do not directly get involved in micro management of projects and programs. A PMO can exist at tactical level, may even be central to organization and can be distributed down to departmental or regional level. You can have a PMO within a Program or even a large and complex project can have a PMO within the project just like a Project Office. The point I am trying to make is that these dozens of types of PMO, each have a different alignment and purpose, specially they all address a different domain. Second lesson is more than one type of PMOs can co-exist if their objectives and hierarchy is well-defined. This is necessary to ensure nobody steps over anyone else's feet. Saving Changes...

You need to align your PMO with your SPO by making sure that your project backlog, goals and objectives are aligned with the SPO. Having a member of the SPO participate in your IT Steering Committee meetings would help. Saving Changes...

Simple: no project or program exists if it has not a strategy reason. Project and programs are create to put the strategy on action. So, if there is a lack of alignment it could be because a lack of communication. Saving Changes...
