Some of people have common belief that workers should leave their emotions at home when they walk into work, and a successful boss is the one who is ruthless, does not know mercy and deal with people with rigorous face, thinking that this is the only way to achieve their projects goals .In the last two decades, many researches had revealed that this practice might not be possible or desirable. Traditionally, project managers tend toward the logic and getting a solid process and tools to manage projects; there is not enough time to waste resources. However, projects are undertaken by people not tools only, project complexities are solved by people firstly, not processes and enough. People’s feelings are essential! Because a significant part of proper leadership is controlled by emotions . Emotional Intelligence is becoming the most important competency you ought to know, learn, practice and master. Do think that emotional intelligence can provide great power to leaders, to deal with people in difficult circumstances.
Would you tell us about one Emotional STORY you have faced in your work ? Saving Changes...

I think the best PM's do indeed have the soft skills, emotional intelligence and empathy. But this needs to be combined with hard skills (the ability to direct, lead, and get the job done). I think it is good to have both! Thanks for helping us to remember the importance of being "human" as well as productive! Saving Changes...

Hopefully things are changing. Human beings cannot shed all emotions even for a period of time daily. Feudal behavior still persists in some cultures, that''s true. But a person with respect for others can do miracle. One instance that comes to my mind instantly is; the life of Late Konosuke Matsushita SAN; the founder of Panasonic. His biography is worth reading. Saving Changes...

Hi, Dear distinguished members, Being "HUMAN" in work is essential and i strongly believe you cannot get the job done without a strong emotional link among your team, here is my Emotional Story that i had experienced myself.
Recently, I was appointed as director for project management and Consultancy Company to replace another director he had decided to stop dealing with business development, meet so different perspective customers and address the daily employee’s issues and conflicts. The former director had preferred to fully engage in performance job and coexists with figures, indicators, process and tools. That was the reason many of the main company clients had decided to avoid dealing with the company and sharing in new projects. Moreover, the company talents and experts were mostly going to resign. The organization was really filled with negative underachievers and indifferent people. When I took over the responsibility for this department, something has caught my attention that the first director had already gone through the typical project management procedures and got everything very well as explained in the Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) such as :
• put the general plan ,clear objectives and vision • complete the stakeholders register • finalize the organization assignment matrix • conduct periodic meetings • review the tasks ,roles and responsibilities for everyone • hire and assign people But all of that, were not enough to maximize effort, maintain talents and keep clients. When I stared my duty as department director, my core target is to help achieve your personal goals even those who decided to leave, I said to all the department employees. I also said if you want to move to another job, it is better and more valuable for you to move from a successful company. Your pervious contributions would be appreciated and recorded in your resumes wherever you go. Thus, since the first day a strong emotional link had created between the new director and the subordinates. Many emotional leadership skills had adopted specifically in the tough moments of conflict and eventually led to improve the department performance and the whole organization. Most of those who were decided to leave, changed their mind. I had experienced that leadership and emotional intelligence can provide great power to leaders to deal with people in difficult circumstances and by managing the emotions you will get to the sustainable change in any organization which surely help to set up projects success .
