Finally here are our recommendations for earning your PDU’s:
A very good opportunity to earn PDU’s with less effort and – more important! – on a regular basis is the PDU-Podcast by the PrepCast-Crew:
Find dozens of tips about earning hundreds of FREE and paid PDU’s here:
? PDU INSIDER – Your FREE Guide to earning PDU’s ?
and here:
? Free PDUs for PMP Renewal and Recertification?
If you already a member of PMI, than you are automatically a PREMIUM Member at projectmagement.com also! Did you know that?! And therefore you have the option to earn free Category A PDU’s at projectmanagement.com just by watching their webinars and other material.
? (source: http://www.projectmanagement.com/membership/premium.cfm)
Since a regular pm.com Premium Membership is at cost of 249$/Year and a PMI Membership costs only 129$/Year this is a great benefit (and there is a ton of helpful material at pm.com like thousands of templates, presentations, articles and so on …)
Another great option is to earn PDU’s just to continue earning certifications like the ACP-Exam for instance; this would provide you 37 PDU’s towards your PMP Re-Certification; that is more than the half you need and fully aligned to the upcoming CCR Changes in this december!:
Please don''t hesitate to contact me if there are any further questions.
Best of luck!

As Saurabh mentioned can I earn pdu by learning a new programming language?
There is no explicit mention of these. As I understand when we say technical it is technical project management. But for a PM, knowledge on the programming language used in the software development projects is required to understand the scenarios, make some of the decisions and smoothly run the show.

How is learning a new programming language relevant to your growth as a project manager? Saving Changes...

Hi Stephane,
This is more relevant to the projects initiated due technological advance like - project to create a new framework that can we used in game engines; developing a reusable components like network libraries etc.; rewriting a whole project in new programming language to exploit much of new features available; developing a hybrid application that works on multiple OS platforms etc.
Knowledge on respective programming language helped PM to communicate with relevant stakeholders in a better way. This is my personal experience.
However, I agree that in general programming language may not be much beneficial for PM’s growth, but good to have :)
Coming to the point, I think learning a new PL may not earn you a PDU.

Thanks for sharing, Karthik. As a software development PM, I do find usefulness in understanding the underlying technology. For example, understanding how Siebel CRM works allowed me to implement promotion processes that take advantage of Siebel features and minimize its downfalls. Saving Changes...

That's great Stephane!
I'm much comfortable if I gain minimum technical knowledge on the software development project I work.

Hi Amer, honestly to get the PDU, you have many choices on your own as such;
1. Presentation to your team, also could claim the PDU i.e. presentation take about 1 hour.
2. Reading book- this also an option to get the PDU, you can choose any good PM book, and how long it take to complete reading/study the book i.e. 6 hours.
3. Joining the Webinar, this can contribute 1 hour depend on how long the training/speech.
