I know some of the members are part of Toastmasters. I have been a Toastmaster since 2007.
Most non-Toastmasters think of the organization for public speaking. Those who join understand it is both about communication and leadership.
Has anyone considered Toastmasters a learning ground for your project management skills and experience? Do you find it a good fit? Have you recommended it as project management training? Saving Changes...

I am not part of Toastmasters but our local Chapter has an active Toastmasters group. I have only ever thought of it as a way to improve public speaking. Interesting to hear that it is wider than that. Saving Changes...

Fosco,
Toastmasters (www.toastmasters.org) is an international organization started over 90 years ago. It''s original direction was to help people with public speaking. Over the years, the organization developed a communication path and a leadership path. The whole program is based on the premise that you "learn by doing."
The best way to understand Toastmasters is to experience it. I checked and the closest club for you is Toastmasters Monza.
They meet at the Urban Center (Via Turati 6 Monza) every second and fourth Thursday of the month, from 19h30 to 21h30. Be their guest and see what it''s all about.
There are also some in Milano, if you wish to go that far.
Enjoy the experience,

Stephane:
Great topic of interest to post on this site. Early in my career; I was encouraged to join Toastmasters and achieved my CTM, served on their board in all capacities. Gaining confidence speaking in front of an audience; any audience will serve you well in any capacity in your career. Also, if it is a fear; overcome it early; join Toastmasters. You will learn leadership, facilitation skills leading meetings, learn how to develop and deliver different types of speeches and can practice in a safe environment of your peers and colleagues.
Glad to have you here on projectmanagement.com. Saving Changes...
It''s good to hear you voice this; I have only recently begun to explore the potential of using Toastmasters as a "Safe Environment" for group talent development to help my organization develop leaders capable of collaborating across disciplines more effectively.
Do you have any specific tips and tricks on how to get the most out of the Toastmasters experience? Saving Changes...

Gabriel,
Toastmasters is meant to be self-paced. However, the best way to get the most out of Toastmasters is to get yourself a mentor. Start with someone with club executive experience so they can maximize your learning. Once you have your Competent Communicator and Competent Leader, you should look to someone with district executive experience so you can understand the broader organization. This will really put your leadership growth into high gear. Saving Changes...
