Hello Darush,
Great questions. Just like any career, there are many factors for success. I would think it would take more than a certificate or degree to get a project management job, although they certainly help. Many Project Managers come up through the ranks, and I suspect that many of them start in the IT field. It is good to know both standard PM and Agile--some projects lend themselves more to one or the other, but things seem to be evolving more toward Agile IMO. Both are important for managing projects, and some projects use a hybrid of both. Just some thoughts. Hope that helps a bit. Best of luck in all your endeavors!!!!

To follow-up on Bruce''s great comments, think of PMI certificates as milestones rather than pre-requisites. Whether it''s a CAPM or a PfMP, they all represent the achievement of a set of experience, skills and knowledge.

Every employer and client will use a different set of tools. That should not stop you from managing a project, as long as you invest time in learning the tools. I would say none of them are easy. While you can get started quickly with Microsoft Project, there are a lot of features you will want to learn and use when tracking project performance.

You start being a project manager by managing "small" projects. Look around you and turn personal or work initiatives into projects. Produce all deliverables from project charter all the way to lessons learned.

In North America, the demand is mostly for PMP certification. In Europe, PRINCE2 is the important certification.

Agile is more a product methodology than a project methodology. It''s not so much about doing different things than it is to do things differently. You look for opportunities to deliver the necessary deliverables in a manner that adds value sooner.
