I just looked up HSC and it can mean a lot of different things. Could you clarify your question?
Thanks much!

That''s a great question. I think a lot of people get into a profession like IT or construction and then work their way up into project management. The other major path would be to get a university degree in some area of project management, and then join a company that tends to deal in projects. In either case, taking courses in project management and joining a local PMI chapter would likely be important. I''d love to hear what others have to say.

Yes, we have a local college, which offers an accredited degree in project management. I recently gave a presentation there, and encouraged everyone to get involved in the local chapter. There are multiple benefits to being involved in the chapter: First, you can volunteer in a capacity, which will allow you to accumulate hours towards your 3500 PM experience requirement to sit for a PMP certification. Second, volunteering for PMI opens doors to executive experience that is otherwise unavailable for many people in their organizations. Read my post on this here: "PMI Volunteering: A Chance to Learn and Grow!." As a volunteer member of the board, I have experience with strategic decision making and planning, also, I learned a great deal about providing leadership in the context of managing and directing volunteers to produce events. Additionally, I negotiated contracts, and performed marketing.

If your students don''t have sufficient hours to earn their PMP, they could always look towards earning their CAPM certification. It would be worth their while also learning something of IT technology, so that they could more easily get jobs in the IT industry.

Thanks Michael, What are the eligibility criteria for admission in this college.

This is small community college, so I think it is pretty easy to be accepted. The program has been really helped by one of our previous chapter presidents, who has helped develop the curriculum, and has submitted it for PMI approval as counting towards the 35 contact hours needed for PMP training.

I don''t know if the courses are available online though. The college is Northern New Mexico, and the degree is a BBA in Project Management.

Pankaj, this is a nice activity. Please do have a look at the GAC website of PMI, where you can find regional and Online courses to be certified Bachelor/ Master/ Doctorate. The link is -> http://www.pmi.org/gac/directory-accredited-programs.aspx
