I''m much more familiar with P6 than MS Project but to me the key differentiator is that P6 is designed as an enterprise system - for example, multiple people can work in the same P6 schedule simultaneously. It also provides tremendous tailoring of user privileges.
Another point I will mention is that I have seen too many people given MS Project to use without a fundamental understanding of scheduling concepts. The output looks OK, but often lacks the required schedule logic. Neither tool can ensure schedules are done properly.
Regarding training, we''re fortunate to have a local company who offers P6 training. The official Oracle courses are a 3-day basics class and a 2-day advanced class. But even those do not really cover everything in the vast capabilities of P6. I think it could be done with online training but only if it allows a remote connection to the trainer''s facility so you can actually use the software during the training labs. Saving Changes...

For 10 years I have use MS Project, excellent tool. I have developed tools in VB and C# .NET to help me to obtain statistical information that help me to visualizer the health of many schedules. P6 contain vary tools to obtain comparatives and flexibility in the manage information. P6 is more powerfull in your infraestructure, connected to a data base, the options to manage and manipulate the information is opened to a new world of posibilities. Of start, MS Project work whit four tables in one internal data base, this has limited many of my projects conditions, P6 is connected to a one data base whit many tables, the posibilities are exponencial...
