We are currently evaluating Clarizen to potentially replace our current PPM (Project and Portfolio Management tool. I''d like to hear from any current users of Clarizen about their likes, dislikes, pros, cons, lessons learned, etc. Let me know what your experience has been. Talk me into it or talk me out of it based on your experience with the tool and the company. I''d love to hear from you.

I was hoping someone would have information to contribute on their experience with Clarizen.

I''ve used Clarizen extensively. It has certainly had its challenges and learning curve compared to Microsoft Project and its server products.

Likes/Pros
- Social capabilities. Every object (tasks, milestones, issues, risks, cases, projects, etc.) has its own feed (think, Facebook wall) where discussion can take place, files can be shared, etc. Easy to just tag a coworker to review a file or update their status.
- The time accounting aspect is very comprehensive and well organized. Easy for a project manager or resource manager to allocate hours and easy for a person working on a task to log time.
- Has a great iOS app.
- Access controls. As a PM, I often had instances where I wanted some stakeholders to have access to certain parts of the project but not internal discussion. There are great access controls to limit what you''re sharing and with whom.

Dislikes/cons
- Reliance on Internet connectivity. While it''s very easy these days to be online all the time, there might be times where you''re offline (traveling) and in that case, you''re stuck. Unlike working with local files in Project or a synchronized Project Server/SharePoint solution that allows offline work.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with Clarizen, Sam. So far, we''ve liked everything we''ve seen and we''re perfectly OK with the reliance on Internet connectivity. I was looking for more validation we''re on the right path (which you provided) or some behind the scenes dirty laundry we haven''t, yet, discovered. So far it looks like a good system for us. We haven''t uncovered any red flags, yet.
