Remember fellow Comrades, "THINKING" is essential in being successful. I know you must be saying " I think every day, or I am always doing all the thinking", but remember that the form of thinking you choose is vital and can make or break your day or even waste a lot of time. If we (PM''s or people) in general don''t have proper thinking habits that can help you make good decisions or be able to guide someone in solving an issue, to redirect an issue to solve it. Then we are not going to be successful and a PM may also waste time and energy, causing more stress unnecessarily.
According to The Art of Thinking by Ruggiero (2012) reads "to be a successful problem solver, you will need both factual knowledge and proficiency in thinking".
As Project Managers we need to "not" forget or lose sight of how to use our techniques to solve issues or lose our vision for the goal. Ignoring people or bullying employees or your team are signs of losing your vision, technique and sight for the goal. Our purpose as PM''s is to help make things better, more efficient, making clients happy with our work. Being able to trust us is vital.
Remember PM''s everyone matters, in all levels from entry level to experienced. All projects small or large are important to stakeholders. Therefore, understanding that an experienced PM can also lose sight and fall into what ever works or who ever will do what they demand. The right attitude (positive) and energy is always welcome. I find the biggest challenge as a mentor and coach is to teach people how to think. Rather than give them the answer, I try to guide their thinking so they can come up with their own Aha! moment. Saving Changes...
