I am being tasked with having my company become ISO 9001 certified. I know this can be a huge project in and of itself. We have about 30 employees so a relatively small company working in structural steel fabrication and erection and miscellaneous metals. Can anyone offer up advice on where to go for such training and who to use for a certification body. My company is located in Ontario, Canada. I've worked for companies in the past that were ISO 9001, however, I've never had to start this from scratch. Looking forward to any advice. Saving Changes...

Hello Joe, I just saw your request for information in the PM forum. I am Robert Jasper the Founder and the Senior Consultant of the brand The Art of Quality Consulting, a consulting firm specializing in result based Quality Management Consulting and Training. Over the last decade, I have trained and consulted organizations of all sizes and various industries to develop, implement, and certify their QMS systems successfully. As certified Auditor for ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems I know both sides of the equation and as ISO Implementation Consultant I brought this valuable knowledge to clients, which have passed Third Party audits first time successfully.
Joe, there is a proven Step by Step system for building a ISO 9001 QMS from scratch. Certainly if you have worked within ISO QMS in the past it helps, but you really need good advise here, in order to get that done effective and in reasonable time. Would love to send you more information on that. Feel free to connect with me, see my LinkedIn profile: https://www.linkedin.com/pub/robert-jasper/15/16/a54
Not sure, wehther you still need advise, but here is a short roadmap for success for you...
Initial Gap Analysis on your existing management system to the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 in order to find out the "quality" maturity of your organization (EVERY organization has a kind of "system" in place)
-Determine ISO Certification Project goals/Scope development -ISO 9001:2015 QMS Process Map planning / Harmonization with existing system -Identify Project Team and prepare ISO 9001:2015 Implementation Project Plan -ISO QMS Objectives and KPI development -ISO 9001:2015 compliant Quality Management System (QMS) documentation dev. -Quality Management System (QMS) electronic based QMS set up (Better then hardcopy) -Hold team meetings to revise/harmonize all existing processes and procedures -Training of managers/employees on the ISO 9001:2015 based QMS using Learning Kit -Internal Auditor Training on ISO 9001:2015 QMS onsite -ISO 9001:2015 QMS system implementation -Records development and collection -Corrective action quality control Closed Loop Register set up -Mock up Audit Plan development for ISO 9001:2015 Third Party Certification -Third Party Registrar Audit preparation management & guidance
All staff training must focus on strengthening PREVENTATIVE Organizational Awareness/Risk Based Thinking for the new ISO 9001:2015 clauses. ISO Auditor/Trainer should ensure that the ISO transition project operates in a controlled state of predictable project performance
Detailed ISO Training proposal can be provided on request. Federal Training Grants may apply.
