I've had my PMP since 2010 and since that time have performed in a Service Program (Client Services Manager) role. My goal is to be a key member in a PMO with a role that focuses on billing/receivab
Charmaine, good luck in the search. Suggest you to look for project support, Project office support, if you are interested in PMO. However if you are looking for financial aspect I would suggest not searching for PMO, as there are few PMO that do really do cost controls (if that is what you are looking at). On the other side if you are looking to get into PMO so as to use your PMI certification, then I would suggest Project Management role (junior, mid-level...)

Hi there Kiran.
Definitely want to get into a PMO first and foremost. The financial aspect would be a bonus but hear what you are saying. Appreciate the direction and Happy New Year to you!

Good luck in the job search. While it may not be perfect, you might look for a volunteer opp in a non profit with a focus on finance support for them. Again, not perfect I know but will provide you some experience.
Hello Gina. Taking in all the advice that is really giving me pause to think. Thanks so very much! Saving Changes...

This is likely another case of who you know. Get in front of people who may be part of an organization you prefer. Networking is the unsung hero these days. The other way is to get a less relevant role and showcase your skills.
Best of luck in 2016!

Great and wise input Steven. I would combine both in one: Networking while getting a less relevant roll to show your skills which is exactly what you've said.

You and Steven have read my mind, Rami. Taking that less relevant role is the path I am pursuing while reaching out to those in my network. Really appreciate the wisdom & advice from all of you who have responded to my post, Happy New Year to everyone!

Good luck in 2016 Charmaine. I made a similar transition years ago by simply telling everyone I know about it. I wrote white papers, attended AGMs, did the grunt work. It does pay off. But don't let anyone tell you that you have to work for free. That's just simply taking advantage. You have valuable skills you just have to work extra hard to get it in front of people who have zero time. This morning I have 88 unread emails in one day. Ask me why I'm on the forms...#procrastination. People are busy, but never to busy for coffee :).
And you'll notice how Rami has an exceptional way of communicating concepts in a simple manner. He's a wealth of knowledge.
