Which Project management tool helped you a lot in your most complex project and you have a feeling 'a friend in need is a friend indeed' towards that tool?

I have used the following tools for project management - SAP PPM (both current and old version), MS Project Server, MS Project, Primavera, Excel, few others that were acquired by other companies. The point on which one is the friend depends on the organization, the management and the type of project.

You can install MS Project Server and bring that to the project managers within the organization. It's a great tool, but if the PM's are least interested and there is not much pressure from management the value of the tool goes away. people complain about the tool, but honestly the tool was perfect and the framework is not.

each tool has it's complexity, but then define 'Complex', its what we make it out to be. So in the above example if I give the PM's an excel template then Excel becomes the "Friend" and MS Project Server becomes the complex one. So choose wisely

It really depends on the culture, their willingness to splurge on a tool...etc.

One major point is visibility. Step one is get all your project managers trained and using the tool. Step two, how does the rest of your team interact with the schedule? Can they access the tool or do the licences spiral out of control. SaaS is no help here.

Microsoft 365 seems to be making major waves and addressing a lot of this.

Basically, project management is not easy quest. Depend on projects, it milestones, working hours, tasks, follow up everything is differed. So try to choose the suitable tools based on requirements. I am using Apptivo, this tool is suitable for my small business and I can do all project management without facing difficulties. Also, keep track of my development teams working hours, time, task completion, events updates. They recently updated project version. Its design and new features are awesome. This new update helps to reduce my working time and improve my employee's collaboration.
