I have been chairing a PM CoP in the Boeing Company and would like to tie-into other PM Communities of Practice to share what is working and what's not…. Saving Changes...
One of the biggest problems I have come across in the area of PM is maintaining communication across geographically disparate members. Very often the problem of sharing documents, conducting discussions etc are lost in emails or phone conversations. Just recently someone introduced me to a tool at www.zaplet.com which makes managing a lot of this easier and reachable thru your inbox. I now share docs, conduct discussions and make decisions using some of their templates and tools. Saving Changes...
Actually a classic knowledge management need: facilitating the on-going communication and knowledge sharing for a targeted knowledge domain (e.g., project management).
What kind of project management? Who would you like involved, and what would you like to get out of the CoP? If we can clarify some of these objectives, sothat anyone else who is interested can get an idea of "what's in it for me?", then you'll have a better chance of putting together something that has some legs. I am also chairing a PM CoP for MultiChoice South Africa and would like to tie into anybody who has a similar initiative going. I am also reachable on [email protected] Our CoP has been going for a while but I feel that to keep the momentum and the interest going, an external view point on how it can help mature PM in an organization will be greatful.
