Hello Community and responsibles,
i would like to ask if the dsicussion board category's and/or their presentation at pm.com should/could be overworked?
Espacially for new members (whom are mostly confirm with the classic type of forums/discussion boards) it seems to be diffcult to find the right direction here.
And even for me as a long-time user here it is often not clear where to post the questions/discussions ...
I guess most people just choose project management central cause it is the easiest way ...
Just a suggestion; would be interesting to hear what other members thought about that ...

Interesting Markus. The one thing that confused me is that all the sub-categories feed into project management central. It basically means only the first page of project management central gets viewed. Saving Changes...

Thanks for the post, Markus and feedback Steven! We are currently auditing the discussion boards and determining what type of structure will be most useful and beneficial (as well as making the most sense) for the community. We are also considering best practices in online community management for forum board structures, as there is ample research demonstrating what types of topic/subject boards have the most success and the proper way to grow and subcategorize.

@Markus: I totally agree with you. It wasn't easy for me at all to get familiar with the website in general in terms of how, where, what and change is necessary for future new members.
However, I know for a fact that they are working on many imporvements and I must say, Rebecca, her team and Heather from administation are doing a great job by following up with all concerns and guiding members as requested until these changes kick-in. Personally, I had endless questions about the website and how to do things and they were always responsive in timely manner.
I am optimistic that we will be seeing some positive and great changes on this website in the near future but again, yes, change is essential and motivating people is also important. I suggested earlier to create a new badge for: Top Contributor of the Month. Introducing more badges will motivat people in many ways.
Improving the screening process as well on proper evaluation on who is really contributing and adding value to the community. Saving Changes...

Hello Steven,
since some years, but really committed and active since the beginning of 2015.
May i ask why you asking?

I agree with Markus that the categories are artificial barriers.
We can already assign Practices to our thread - albeit only three. I, for one, do no see much benefit in adding another category dimension.
All it does, is confound the thread originator in trying to find the appropriate place. (For example, if I have a question about KM software, do I put it under Knowledge Management or Package Selection?) Saving Changes...

Strict curiosity Markus. That is all!
You had said you had been involved for awhile. Just curious.
I think somebody should come up with a way to breed a very large shrimp. That way, you could ride him, then, after you camped at night, you could eat him. How about it, science?
