At the end of the day, the PMP has it all and should be your primary focus.

I chose to get my PMI-SP because I was heavely involved in MS Project Server, especially the scheduling part. By adding the SP, it shows I have a high proficiency in that knowledge area.

I am now pursuing my PMI-RMP for a different reason. Some industries, like financial services, have a greater need for risk management. By adding the RMP, I hope it will make me more suitable for those industries.

I see no harm in having an RMP, but I don't know that I see a big benefit either. With the exception of the fact that many project managers and organizations in general completely ignore and refuse to honestly assess risks.

That being said, I'm primarily an IT project manager, so what helps me most is a thorough background as a business analyst. I used to do some construction management, and I could see where an RMP would be more valuable there than business analysis.

I guess my thoughts are that additional certifications from PMI or other sources are useful, but they are more or less useful, based on the industry in which you are doing project management.

I am thankful to everyone for their opinion. I personally think that if you are project manager and has done PMP, RMP is only an addition of certification. Some organisation like your CV has a lot of certifications :)

Learning risk management is an addition to your project management skills but RMP certification is good for specific fields.

I prefer to learn all project management practices but specialization is for expert on that field.
