I am a new PM and the project is so massive that all of the risks point back to me. What is the best approach to communicate the risks of missing critical dates? Saving Changes...

Communication is key. Be proactive and communicate to your manager what those risks and concerns are early and request any assistance you need (SME's, schedulers, material/equipment managers, risk managers, etc...). Don't wait until problems arise and then try to use existing risks as the reason... they will just think you are making excuses. But if you communicate early, in writing, you can pull that communication later and explained you identified the risks, asked for assistance, and none was rendered, thus the issue became a reality. Produce weekly or at least monthly reports to share with key stakeholders informing them of status, progress, issues, concerns, and needs. Saving Changes...
